About Northlight
Section titled “About Northlight”A short description:
Northlight is a free and open source digital audio workstation for Windows, for recording, arranging and mixing music. It’s released under the GNU AGPLv3 and made in the open on GitHub.
A longer one:
Northlight is a free and open source digital audio workstation for Windows. It records many tracks at once at low latency over ASIO, hosts VST3 and CLAP plugins, and comes with its own instruments: Pulsar, a drum synth; Aurora, for basses and keys; Nebula, for pads; Starbit, a chiptune synth; and a sampler. Every track has a channel strip with a gate, EQ, compressor, de-esser, saturation and limiter, and sung parts can be pitch-corrected note by note. Anyone can use Northlight for anything, and its source code is public under the GNU AGPLv3. It hasn’t had its first release yet.
The logo is Moonrise: a half moon risen over the horizon, its light broken on the water below. The lockup sets the name beside it. Each comes in a version for dark backgrounds and one for light backgrounds, as SVG and as PNG on a transparent background.

Using the logo
Section titled “Using the logo”- Leave clear space around the mark at least as wide as the moon on every side.
- Don’t use the mark smaller than 16 px, or the lockup narrower than 96 px.
- The mark always comes before the name, and the name sits on the horizon line.
- Don’t recolour the moon blue, outline it, make it a full circle, add a gradient or a glow, or rotate the mark. Don’t set the name in another typeface.
- On a photograph, use the one-colour version in the moon’s cream (
#F1EEDF), so the horizon doesn’t disappear into the sky.
Colours
Section titled “Colours”Northlight looks like a Hebridean island in early evening: dark peat and turf greens, an overcast blue sky and a cream moon. The blue marks anything active, and red is kept for recording.
